Just a quick update

I'm going to be having surgery done next week, then starting on chemo treatments. I'll try to be around as much as possible, but figured I'd let ya'll know so you didn't think I bailed on ya or anything.

Just barely a month ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It's moving rather quickly, so this next Friday, I'll be getting a full, bilateral mastectomy. We were really pushing for a hysterectomy to be done at the same time, as there is a possibility of ovarian and uterine cancer, but as it stands right now, the hysto may have to wait. I should be starting chemo treatments 2 weeks after the surgery is done. Just enough time to let my body heal some.
Thank you so much for your kindness, Tom. I'm trying to be brave, but sometimes, it just gets the best of me.
My family has been so strong and supportive, but I know they are scared. I can hear it in their voices. Please pray for them. I'm so worried for them.
I'm learning to hold my head up and keep moving forward. I'm gonna keep laughing and finding the beauty in everything.

I enjoy playing the native american flute.It means more when I play for someone that needs spiritual uplifting. The Spirits blessed me with the power of song and music and the healing of the flute tones. We pray the spirits will bewith you and your family in these tough times. Bless you sister.

Just another quick update:
It's been 3 weeks since the mastectomy and from what I have read, I must be doing pretty well. I start chemo on the 18th, but before that I will be meeting with a breast cancer specialist at Moffit Cancer Center to fine tune the course of treatment. The cancer is ER and HER2/neu poitive metaplastic carcinoma, so it is highly aggressive and tends to favor shooting a cell out to go rouge and take up residence somewhere else.
I'm taking this opportunity to do a little inward soul searching and building up my strength to get to the other side of this battle. The docs have the fight under control. This disease can't control me if I focus on getting better.

First dose of chemo done and over!! WOOOO!!!!
Dr. Juna did a "bait and switch" on me, though. She still wants to get other specialists on board with my case, but she didn't want to delay treatment any longer, so instead of the TCH treatment I was set to get, I received Adriamycin (aka: The Red Devil) and Cytoxan. Now... These changes made me ponder great things:
1. A port was supposed to make chemo infusions easier, correct? Then why did the nurse say, "This might pinch a bit." as she came at me with a rail road spike that she jammed into my shoulder?? OW!! (Okay, not really... I'm embellishing for dramatic purpose. But it did REALLY hurt! And it was a HUGE herkin' needle!)
2. I'm a bit concerned about a chemo medicine that has earned the nickname - "The Red Devil." It sounds like one of those scary carnival rides. I suspect that along with my hair falling out and lowered white blood cell counts, I will also crave cotton candy and develop an unnatural fear of clowns.

Well good luck ithe the devil meds. My mom went thru it as well as a couple friends, I Got faith in your strong spirit. And cotton candy will kill me being Diabetic and You do have to watch your back as far as them clowns go. Caint trust them I swear hahahaah Got your spirit back sister.

When in doubt and feeling down, remember Odin and My Little Ponies
