whats been going on

well with me its been crazy been buisy alot and trying to think of something new to revamp the site abit

Brand new grand-baby, neurotic new mommy, hypochondriac, aging and disabled mother, needy hubby, self-centered son with his own gravitational pull, more bills going out than cash coming in and every time I take 5 minutes to think for myself or take care of my animals (of which I only have 8 now-thank you, soul sucking hubby), its interrupted with... ^this^ bs...

I have my 2 savannahs, the blue tongue skink, the leopard gecko and 4 ball pythons left.
No more tarantulas, carpet pythons, boas, womas, purpose, goals, none of it.
Yeah, I'm a little resentful. Can ya tell? LOL
Ah well... Life changes, like it or not. I can fight it or I can go gracefully.

honestly sounds like you would have much rather trade in the hubby then the critters lol.

He didn't "make" me get rid of them, per say? He just made it to where I had no other choice.
Gotta love the passive/aggressive personalities. Theres been many, many times these last few months that if I could have, I'd have packed up my lizards, got in the car and drove until I ran out of gas. But, oh yeah! I can't do that either! Because of him, I don't have a vehicle!

Wow, K...I haven't been on here for ages and was surprised and saddened to read your post. Saying goodbye to so many members of your scaled family had to have been heartwrenching, like giving up some of your children.

Looking back, my pets have given me fewer problems and less grief than any man has. From now on, whenever I start to feel sorry for myself for not having a husband, I'm going to think about what you're going through and thank my lucky stars that I'm the only one calling the shots at my house.

I hope things will eventually get better for you. Try to think of it this way: you'll be able to give your remaining lizards and snakes some extra time and attention, since your love won't be divided up so many ways. Hang in there!

I wish that were the case, Ginger. The truth is, between helping my daughter care for a new baby, taking care of my Mother, the household, chauffeuring everyone to and from work, doctors appointments, etc., the cooking, the cleaning, the budgeting, blah, blah, blah, my snakes are getting clean water maybe twice a week and most of the time, I remember to turn their lights on during the day. I can't tell you the last time I actually held one longer than just to change his or her papers. I look at them and I just feel sadness. I don't write any more, I don't do anything I used to enjoy any more. Theres no time for it. It feels like my entire identity has vanished.
And hubby... just... sits there...


Okay, I'm gonna stop whining now. Sorry 'bout that.

Please don't feel the need to apologize! Being deprived of the opportunity to experience any of the the things you enjoy makes for a dreary existence. Writing, spending time with your herps...those are the things that make you look forward to each new day, the things that make you "you."

Just a couple of thoughts: Where I live, there is a place that provides respite care, a kind of "adult day care." It gives caregivers a much needed break, if only for a day or so a week. Can your daughter pitch in to help with some of the housework, since you're helping her with her baby? It would be great if you could get a day or two just for yourself, to read or write, take a leisurely bath, or spend time with your snakes and lizards.

That "spark" inside you may be dimmed temporarily, but please don't let it burn out. You're so much more than a servant to others. You're a strong, intelligent, vibrant woman who deserves to occasionally pursue her own interests. And don't you forget it!

(I suppose packing up all your critters and running away is out of the question, huh?)
