The swimming pool is just a plastic mixing tube from Lowes real cheap and the rocks are just a cpl of bags of grey granite . I noticed that turtles love to poop in theid water dish. Well these munchkins are big so they need a big pool to soak in and drink and oh yes poop. So we change the water everyday. When its hot like now I change it two times just to keep it cool. We are going to enlarge and update this enclosure. It's just too dang hot for me to do. But I got plans. We got two clutches of eggs in the enclosure. Just waiting to see if they hatch. Big Daddy is quite the romantic lol.

Quite the romantic? lol I wonder how. My red foot setup is not nearly as nice as yours.

Hey, I'm going to build an indoor setup for my redfoot as in the following months it will get pretty cloudy and dead here, so there won't be much sun. I was wondering what type of uvb could I use? HO UVB of LO UVB? I was thinking of using the lights I use for my bearded dragon (zilla desert 50) because the box even recommends it and my friend uses the same type. I just want a second opinion. I mean they're great bulbs but like I said it never hurts to get comments from other red foot owners.

How many Redfoots do you have?Do you live in a cold climate?I live in Fort Lauderdale and it stays hot down here almost all year long. So I don't need to do artificial lights. My male redfoot is the largest in the area he must be pretty old cause of his size,I know he is a lover boy. There are about eight eggs in the area just waiting to hatch. So far I saw two of the girls lay eggs. The blind girl'Stevie' has laid two clutches We'll see.

uvb is good to a point but dont blind the red foot make sure to have a darker area for it to get out of the light mine likes to only get under her uvb light when shes wanting to sun her self and most of the time she likes to hide under her hide house or behind it to get away from the light red foots like to be in alot of shaded areas to cool off plus they dont like really bright lights tends to hurt there eyes so a low watt of uvb would be better beadie lizard bulbs are pretty much the same as for turtles now in the winter months here i used a red heat bulb and she loves that she will stay under it doesnt bother her eyes much becouse its not bright

Would a PowerSun bulb work alright? I have one on Jo (female Savannah monitor) and it provides heat, UVA, UVB and Mercury Vapor, but it doesn't put out alot of blinding light.

Gotcha.
So a ZooMed bulb would be a better choice for these guys, then?

I have one redfoot that is blind. We call her Stevie as in Stevie wonder. Cept shelaid two clutches of eggs this year lol. She was blinded bu UVB lights.Redfoots live in wet jungles where it is shady most ot the time. When peeps buy baby redfoots they think they need to artificially give them sunlight. Far from the truth. They need shade and only a minimal amount of direct sun light.. My torts spend all most all day in their shaded area. They do get sun but on their own time. And they need alot of water. A tub to wade in and just alot of humidity. They is cool criters. So are the desert torts. Good thing we live in Fl.lol Good for birds too lol.

Those or the Zillas would be good, too. They're also awesome bulbs. I've had one redfoot under them. And I would not recommend MVBs for a RF.

Hmm, I've never had problems, but thats terribly sad about Stevie. Well you don't even need a uvb if you live in Florida! Smile

Yeah we rescued Stevie and another girl. The people had them living with10 large Sulcatas. They were being pushed around alot so I took them. Made my wife upset cause I forgot hehehe to tell her I was getting them Them I got some more OMG she still hasn't gotten over it lol.So now I got two more sulcatas and she said She was gonna make me live outside with the critters. Can't wait till I fix my camera so I can introduce yall to Bertrum & Earnest the two new kids.Actually they are a tear older than Ralph & Nortin but they are from the same parents. In my camera if I get it fixed are two oics of the parent Sulcata. They are in North Carolina now .The dad is about 75 lbs and the momma is a little smaller . BIG Love my turtles and torts oh yeah my wife too lol.
