Thanks 'K'.He was "The Man" . And he knew it.Very interesting how the other dogs feel. They know something is missing-The Boss- and it seems they are mourning his passing also. Thank yall for your kind thoughts.

Oh, Tom, I'm so, so sorry. Sad
I'm sending up prayers for you to find comfort and for Linus to have a peaceful journey home.

You're welcome, my friend. As one who has experienced what you're going through, I can say that your heart will never be quite the same but the sadness gradually eases with the passage of time.

Oh that poem is just what I needed.17 years almost to the day. 24 hours a day.I spent more time with Linus than my wife(she works) so he was pretty much clued to my hip. Thank you sharing the poem and your thoughts.

Tom, I'm so sorry for your loss. 17 years is extraordinary for a dog; you and Melodie must have given Linus the very best of care for him to live that long! Making the decision to put a beloved pet down is one of the hardest things we will ever have to do. Here's a poem that someone gave me awhile back. I hope it will help ease your pain a little:

A Pet's Prayer

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.

You will be sad, I understand
Don't let your grief then stay your hand
For this last day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We've had so many happy years,
What's to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want to suffer so
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me where my needs they'll tend
Only stay with me until the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will see
It's kindness that you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I've been saved.

Do not grieve, it should be you
Who decides this thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Smile, for we walked together for a little while.

Those pictures of Linus are adorable. What a beautiful way to remember him, until the two of you meet once again at the Rainbow Bridge!

I made a mistake. Linus was 17 years old. We got out his papers to check and he turned out to be 17, Either way I miss him dearly.

He was 15 years old, actually was Melodies Birthday present. He was my first small dog. I fell in love at first sight and I was like so afrid he wasnt breathine the first night(like all parents with a new one) So he slept with me the first couple nights-The start of a beautiful friendship. He Never left my side ever. He loved me and I love him Old age and the loss of all his teeth proved too much for the man.Sunday I had to put him down!!! I am so sorry Linus please forgive me, I love you.[img]with Great sorrow Birdbox018
