| Its amazing. At our first show, someone asked if we had any turtles. We didn't, so after the show I said, "We really need to have a turtle." I keep saying, "We really need a thousand dollars." but still nothing.
Anyways!
Fast forward to this last Tuesday: Low and behold, about a mile down the road, traffic is doing a "duck & move" around this little rock in the road. As we got closer, we realized it was a little Eastern Box turtle.
So now we have this cute little female boxie, and she is about as sweet natured and gentle as she can be, but I'm really concerned. I was reading that they have homing instincts that keep them close to their place of birth. I have her in a large 40 gallon tank with loads of dirt, plant life, hide spots, a large water dish with just an inch or so of water in it and heat lights with uv, but I still can't get her interested in food. I've tried fruits, greens, squash, tomatoes, earthworms.... you name it.
So I come to the turtle experts: Should I just give her some time? Or should she be returned to where I found her? | |
